Select a Theme (New Layout/Report assistant)
In this panel of the New Layout/Report assistant, you can apply FileMaker Pro layout themes to enhance the appearance of a layout or report and to give all of your layouts a consistent look. Some themes have two variants: one designed to look best onscreen and another to look best when printed.
A theme affects characteristics of the layout, including:
 •
 •
 •
 •
A theme does not control the placement or behavior of objects.
To apply a theme to a layout or report:
 •
Select a theme from the Layout themes list.
A representation of the selected theme appears to the right of the list.
Notes and tips
 •
 •
The Default theme uses currently defined text attributes (like font, size, and style), and object attributes (like borders, fill, and effect). If you customized attributes in this file, selecting the Default theme for a new layout ensures that objects you create here match the last objects you created.
 •
The Standard theme uses the FileMaker Pro preset formatting for text and object attributes. Customized attributes are not inherited from previous layouts. Applying the Standard theme is a good way of resetting FileMaker Pro to display layout objects in a standard format.
 •
To add objects later with the same attributes, Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (Mac OS) an object on the layout that has the theme attributes you want. This “picks up” the theme attributes and makes them the default. Then create the objects you want.
